Dhaka, Nov. 22 -- Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the 1971 Liberation War during his visit to Bangladesh.

He laid a wreath at the base of the National Martyrs' Memorial in Dhaka's Savar shortly after arriving in the country on Saturday, the Chief Advisor's Office (CAO) said.

During this time, Tobgay planted a sapling in the memorial complex and signed the visitors' book.

He landed at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport at 8:15am on Saturday for a three-day visit. Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus gave him a warm welcome at the airport. After a brief meeting between the two leaders there, a contingent of the Armed Forces presented him with a guard of honour.
