Dhaka, Feb. 3 -- A truck driver and his assistant have been killed after a train rammed their vehicle at a rail crossing in Dinajpur.

The accident occurred around 2am on Monday in Birampur.

The truck driver has yet to be identified, but his assistant was identified by a single name as Arif, who hailed from Panchagarh's Tentulia.

A stone-laden truck was crossing the rail crossing on the Birampur-Ghoraghat road when it was rammed by the Ekota Express train, according to Momtazul Islam, chief of Birampur Police Station.

The police official said the train had been heading from Panchagarh to Dhaka when the accident occurred.

Train service was interrupted due to the accident, but is now back to normal, he added.
