Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- An assistant presiding officer, who was on the way to his assigned polling station, has been killed in a road accident involving a truck and an autorickshaw in Sherpur.
The officer was travelling in the autorickshaw which collided with the truck in Sherpur Sadar. The accident also left another woman dead.
Sherpur Sadar Police Station chief Sohel Rana said the accident occurred around 11am on Wednesday at Shimultoli Banger Mor on the Sherpur-Jamalpur highway. The auto-rickshaw driver and five others, including a child, were injured in the crash.
The dead have been identified as Md Roknuzzaman, 31, the assistant presiding officer who was stationed at the Sherpur Government Girls' High School polling centre, and Mahfuza,...
