Dhaka, Dec. 31 -- Traffic restrictions have been imposed on roads around Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka to allow for the funeral prayers of former prime minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Swathes of people from across the capital and other parts of the country are gathering in the area to attend the prayers on Wednesday.

The Chief Advisor's Office has urged the public to avoid using Mirpur Road to reach Manik Mia Avenue in order to ease congestion and ensure the smooth conduct of the funeral.

In a post on social media, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus said preparations had been completed to allow people from all walks of life to pay their respects and take part in the funeral prayers without disruption. He ...
