Dhaka, Oct. 8 -- Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain has said ambassadors are free to visit "anyone's home", adding that the government has nothing to say or do about it.

The remarks came after reports that three European Union envoys recently held a meeting at the residence of former minister and Awami League leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury.

Touhid said, "From what we see, they visited an individual's residence. If he were a criminal, he would have been held in custody, which was not the case. Ambassadors can go to anyone's house."

He recalled his own experience during his time in Kolkata, saying: "I wasn't even an ambassador there, just one step below. I also went to many people's homes -- it was never a problem."
