Bangladesh, Sept. 3 -- The Supreme Court has given the green light for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election to be held as planned on Sept 9.

On Wednesday, a seven-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Refaat Ahmed upheld a Chamber Court ruling that had stayed a High Court order suspending the election until Oct 30.

Consequently, there are no longer any legal barriers to holding the DUCSU election as planned, said Dhaka University's counsel Shishir Manir.

"The election will go ahead on the 9th of September in a free, fair and impartial manner," he told reporters.
