Dhaka, Aug. 10 -- Australia extended their winning streak in the shortest format of the game to a record nine matches, defending 178 to beat South Africa by 17 runs in the first T20.
On Sunday, the Aussies got over the line thanks to a brilliant knock from Tim David (83) and incisive bowling from Josh Hazlewood (3-27) and Ben Dwarshuis (3-26) at Marrara Oval in Darwin.
The hosts, opting to bat first, stuttered early against some superb bowling, spearheaded by teenage debutant Kwena Maphaka, who claimed 4 for 20 on debut.
Australia slipped to 75 for 6 after losing key wickets in the powerplay, including Mitchell Marsh (13), Travis Head (2), and Josh Inglis (0).
