Dhaka, Dec. 7 -- A freedom fighter and his wife have been found dead with their throats slashed in Rangpur's Taragonj Upazila.

Police recovered the two bodies from a home in Khiarpara village in Kursha Rahimapur Union on Sunday morning, according to Marufat Hossein, the district's superintendent of police.

The victims were identified as 75-year-old Jagesh Chandra Roy, a former head teacher at the local Chakla Primary School, and 60-year-old Suborna Roy.

Uban Chandra Roy, convener of the Taragonj Upazila Freedom Fighters Association, said they were killed at some time late on Saturday night.

"Jagesh Chandra Roy was a respected local teacher and freedom fighter," he said.
