Dhaka, Feb. 22 -- Police have recovered the bodies of three people shot dead in Jhenaidah's Shailkupa.
The bodies were found in the Ramchandrapur area around midnight on Saturday, said Shailkupa Police Station chief Masum Khan.
Locals reported hearing gunfire near the Ramchandrapur cremation ground around 8pm, prompting police to respond to the scene, Masum said.
"We found three bodies at the site and also recovered two motorcycles," he added.
Among the victims, one has been identified as Md Hanif, a resident of neighbouring Harinakundu Upazila.
He was a leader of the "leftist extremist group" Purbo Banglar Communist Party, according to police.
Another victim, Md Liton, was Hanif's brother-in-law.
