Dhaka, Feb. 13 -- A court has sentenced three people to death in the 2019 murder case of businessman Saidur Rahman in Brahmanbaria's Bancharampur Upzaila.

Brahmanbaria Additional District and Sessions Judge Ayesha Akter Sumi issued the sentence on Thursday, prosecution lawyer Md Azad Mia said.

The convicts have been identified as Kajal Mia, 49, Ripon Mia, 32, and Rasel Mia, 30.

Ripon and Kajal were present in court during the verdict. They were each fined Tk 50,000 as well.

Citing the case documents, Azad said that police found the body of fruit trader Saidur in the Meghna River near the Upazila's launch terminal on Sept 30, 2019 after he went missing since the previous day.
