Dhaka, Dec. 5 -- Government primary school teachers who had launched protests demanding implementation of 11th-grade pay have announced the suspension of their work stoppage.

The protesting teachers also confirmed that annual examinations at primary schools will resume from Sunday.

The decision was announced shortly after midnight on Thursday in a joint media statement issued by two teacher platforms -- the Primary Teachers' Demand Implementation Council and the Primary Assistant Teachers' Organisation Unity Council.
