Dhaka, March 5 -- A madrasa teacher in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila has allegedly tied up and beat a student for eating two orange wedges leftover from iftar.
The boy was admitted to 250-bed Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, said Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station chief Abdullah Al Mamun.
According to the victim's family, the incident occurred inside Mathurapur Ideal Orphanage on Wednesday morning, sparking outrage in the area.
The teacher, Hafiz Imran Howlader sensed the approaching danger and reportedly fled the orphanage.
Mohammad Alauddin, president of the orphanage management committee, said: "A man arranged an iftar meal for the orphanage's children on Monday.
