Dhaka, June 2 -- In a shift from previous requirements, the government has relaxed rules that mandated submission of tax returns for 45 specific services.
Under the proposed 2025-26 fiscal budget announced Monday by Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed, 12 of these services will now only require submission of a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) certificate, not full tax return documentation.
The policy change will allow individuals to access services such as credit cards and e-commerce business licences with just a TIN certificate from the new fiscal year beginning on Jul 1.
According to the government, the move is expected to broaden the tax base, foster a tax-compliant culture, and simplify the overall compliance process.
