Dhaka, Dec. 29 -- BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has visited the party's central office in Dhaka's Naya Paltan for the first time in more than a decade and a half, drawing large crowds of party supporters.

Tarique's motorcade reached the area around 4:05pm on Monday, though it took longer to reach the office entrance because of the size of the crowd. Supporters applauded and chanted as he waved back from his vehicle.

Senior party leaders, including Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, received him at the gate of the headquarters.

After entering the building, Tarique went to a second-floor balcony to greet supporters before moving to a newly prepared office room next to the BNP chairperson's chamber.
