Dhaka, March 8 -- The BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has spoken to the family members of the child who was allegedly raped in Magura while visiting her sister's house.

During a phone call with the victim's mother on Saturday afternoon, he pledged his support for the child's treatment and vowed to ensure justice.

He also ordered party leaders to stand by the family in this crisis.

The child was in critical condition and was transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, or DMCH, to the Combined Military Hospital, or CMH, in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, Tarique spoke with the child's mother, who was at DMCH, through the phone of Rabiul Islam Nayan, member secretary of Jubo Dal's Dhaka South unit.
