Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will contest in the next general election from Bogura-6 alongside Dhaka-17, marking a shift in the party's earlier approach to multi-seat candidacies.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed the decision to bdnews24.com late Saturday night.

He also said Andaleeve Rahman Partho, chairman of BNP ally Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), will run from Bhola-1 as the alliance candidate instead of Dhaka-17.

Previously, the BNP had announced that only party Chairperson Khaleda Zia would stand in more than one constituency during the election.
