Dhaka, Dec. 10 -- BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has apologised to an army officer for an "untoward incident" in the past.

A meeting of retired military officers was held at the BNP Chairperson's Office in Dhaka's Gulshan on Tuesday night.

Tarique, who joined the meeting virtually from London, mentioned an incident from the past and apologised to the former director general of Special Security Force (SSF), retired major general Syed Fatemi Ahmed Rumi.

At the end of his statement, he said: "I want to see someone here on the screen. Although it's a personal issue and all you are here, I still want to mention it. Mr Rumi is here. He was the DG SSF during Amma's (Khaleda Zia's) tenure."
