Dhaka, May 25 -- Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman expects general elections to be held by December, as he cited growing political and economic instability in the country.
Speaking at a public event, Tarique said: "Political parties have once again urged the interim government to announce a specific date for the national election. The BNP maintains that the election must take place by December."
He criticised the interim administration, claiming it lacks public accountability. "On moral grounds alone, the election roadmap should be made transparent and presented to the people," he said from London, where he lives.
