Dhaka, Oct. 29 -- Following media reports suggesting the chief justice served show-cause notices on three High Court judges, the Supreme Court has clarified that no such notices were issued.

In a media statement on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said the chief justice had only requested "case-related information" from the judges as part of routine administrative procedure.

Earlier in the day, several news outlets reported that the chief Justice had issued show-cause notices to three High Court judges over granting a large number of bail orders.

The judges named in those reports were Justice Abu Taher Saifur Rahman, Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam, and Justice Zakir Hossain.
