Dhaka, June 24 -- Supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain have allegedly come under attack inside Dhaka South City Corporation's Nagar Bhaban, with accusations levelled against an engineer and several others.

The incident took place around noon on Tuesday, injuring five people involved in a campaign demanding that Ishraque be sworn in as mayor, said Abdul Kaiyum, finance secretary of the Employees Unity Council.

Speaking to bdnews24.com, Kaiyum said they had been staging a sit-in at Nagar Bhaban as usual when engineer Golam Kibria Rubel and a group of others arrived and launched the attack.

"After beating us up, Golam Kibria went to the engineering section and broke the seal on his office door, he added.
