Dhaka, Dec. 18 -- Khadija Yasmin Bithi, daughter of top-listed gangster Subrata Bain, has asked a Dhaka court whether checking in on her father constitutes a crime.

She raised the question on Thursday during a hearing on a remand petition at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Sarah Farzana Haque.

Bithi was brought before the court from jail over the killing of Jubo Dal leader Arif Sikder at Hatirjheel.

Her lawyer Badal Mia sought bail, opposing the remand petition.

He told the court that her father had been arrested and was in jail, and that she went to see him to check on his condition.

He added that Subrata Bain was 62 and unwell, and she wanted to know whether he needed medicine.
