Dhaka, March 11 -- Amid the alarming rise of reports of rape, students from different educational institutions in Dhaka have blocked the Shahbagh intersection to demand "swift justice" for the perpetrators.

The students kicked off a "dawn-to-dusk" sit-in demonstration in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh at 11:30pm on Tuesday.

Later they blocked the road in a procession around 1:15pm.

On Sunday, Law Advisor Asif Nazrul said a plan was in action to amend the law to complete rape trials in 90 days, down from 180 days. Additionally, not allowing bail for the accused and lowering the period of investigation to 15 days were being considered.
