Dhaka, Jan. 14 -- Protesting students have cleared the Science Laboratory zone in Dhaka late Wednesday, ending hours of traffic disruption.

They announced fresh blockades simultaneously at three key points -- Science Laboratory, Tantibazar, and Technical intersections -- on Thursday.

The demonstrators, pressing for a university ordinance, had earlier staged simultaneous blockades at Science Laboratory, Tantibazar, Technical and Mohakhali Amtoli intersections, causing major congestion across the city.

The protesters vacated the Science Laboratory intersection around 5:45pm as traffic regained pace after nearly four and a half hours of disruption.
