Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- Meghmallar Bosu, president of a faction of the Dhaka University unit of the Bangladesh Students' Union, has been admitted to hospital after "taking a large dose of medicine".

He was admitted to Dhaka's Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon, the organisation's general secretary Maeen Ahmed said around 7:30pm.

Quoting doctors, Maeen told bdnews24.com: "Meghmallar Bosu is in hospital and is recovering."

Asked about the cause of his illness, he said: "[Meghmallar] had been unwell since the DUCSU election. We found him after he had taken a large dose of medicine."

"The reason will be known once he recovers. His condition is currently stable," he said.
