Dhaka, April 27 -- A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) candidate has died after being hit by a Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) truck in Dhaka's Uttara.

The incident occurred around 1:15pm on Sunday in front of the BNS Centre while the student was crossing the road. The victim was identified by a single name as Nayeem, 16.

According to Shamim Ahmed, chief of Uttara East Police Station, the airport-bound truck hit the student, after which his classmates rushed him to the nearby Women's Hospital.

He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 3:15pm, where doctors declared him dead.
