Dhaka, Nov. 14 -- Criminals have shot dead a leader of the Sramik Dal, the BNP's worker wing, in Chattogram's Rangunia.
The incident occurred around 10pm on Thursday in the Upazila's Khetrabazar area.
The deceased, 42-year-old Abdul Mannan, was the vice president of the union's Sramik Dal. He was living as an expatriate in Saudi Arabia, but returned to Bangladesh after Aug 5 last year.
Sabbir Md Selim, chief of South Rangunia Police Station, said that criminals ambushed Mannan, who was on his way to Khetrabazar on a motorcycle, and shot him. He died on the spot.
Though Mannan hailed from Rangunia, he resided in the Chandraghona area, OC Selim said.
Law enforcers are investigating why he went to Khetrabazar, he added.
