Dhaka, Dec. 30 -- Foreign dignitaries including Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will fly to Dhaka to attend BNP chief Khaleda Zia's last rites.

On Tuesday, a media statement, confirming Jaishankar's travel to Dhaka on Dec 31, said he will represent the government and people of India at the funeral.

This marks the first ministerial visit from India to Bangladesh since Aug 5, the day when a student-led mass uprising toppled the previous Awami League government.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced Sadiq's travel plan in a post on the microblogging site X.
