Dhaka, June 21 -- Sonali chicken prices have surged over the past week, while broiler chicken rates have held steady.

During the same period, potato prices have also edged higher.

In contrast, the price of farm-produced chicken eggs has fallen.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, vegetable prices had gone up slightly, reportedly "due to rain," and those elevated rates have persisted.

On Friday, a public holiday, visits to Mohammadpur's Town Hall, Krishi Market, and Sat Masjid Road markets found Sonali chicken being sold at Tk 330 to Tk 340 per kg.

Last week, Sonali chicken was priced at Tk 280 per kg, while rates before Eid ranged between Tk 250 and Tk 260-marking a total increase of around Tk 70 per kg.
