Bangladesh, Sept. 17 -- Satellite-based broadcasting operations in Bangladesh may be disrupted for eight days between Sept 29-Oct 6 due to a solar interference, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has warned.

In a statement on Wednesday, the BSCL said that solar interference was a normal astronomical event affecting geo-stationary satellites, occurring twice a year. It occurs when the sun lines up directly behind a satellite and overwhelms the signal with its strong radiation. It effects can range from signal degradation to a complete outage for satellite-dependent broadcasting.

The timing and duration of the interference depend on the Earth station's location, the satellite's position, and its operational frequency.
