Dhaka, Jan. 26 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has pledged that his party would not lay hands on public wealth if it comes to power.
Speaking at an election rally at Meherpur Government High School field on Monday, he urged voters to give the Jamaat-led alliance a chance to "change people's fortunes".
"Many parties have governed Bangladesh, but give Jamaat-e-Islami at least once a chance to see if we can change people's fortunes. If Jamaat wins, a society based on justice and fairness will be built," he said.
Shafiqur noted that during the previous four-party coalition government, two Jamaat ministers ran their ministries with complete transparency.
