Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- Senior Indian diplomat Sandeep Chakravorty, currently the country's ambassador to Indonesia, is expected to be appointed as the next high commissioner to Bangladesh, Indian media report.

The move comes as New Delhi seeks to recalibrate ties with Dhaka following a period of strained bilateral relations, according to Hindustan Times.

Chakravorty, a 1996-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, previously served as deputy chief of mission in Bangladesh between 2012 and 2015.

Hindustan Times reports that he was on a shortlist of diplomats considered for the Dhaka posting late last year.
