Dhaka, Jan. 10 -- Bangladesh's roads have exacted a grim toll in 2025, claiming 7,359 lives and leaving 16,476 injured, according to the Road Safety Foundation.
The figures, drawn primarily from media reports, reveal a persistent and deadly pattern that continues to haunt highways and city streets alike.
Motorcycles were implicated in 3,029 accidents, resulting in 2,671 deaths -- 36 percent of all road fatalities recorded.
Alarmingly, the overall toll includes more than 1,000 children and 962 women, underscoring the disproportionate impact on vulnerable groups.
