Dhaka, Aug. 3 -- Bangladesh has raked in $2.47 billion in remittances through formal banking channels in July 2025, marking a 29.31 percent year-on-year rise, according to Bangladesh Bank data published on Sunday.

In July 2024, remittance stood at $1.91 billion, a period when the student-led July Uprising turned violent, prompting calls from some groups urging expatriates to suspend money transfers to protest against the government.

The unrest coincided with a visible decline in inflows that month.

Remittance began to climb from the following month, after the fall of the Awami League government in August. Inflows reached $2.22 billion in that month and have remained consistently above $2 billion every month since.
