Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- Redwan Ahmed has resigned as secretary general of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and officially joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
On Wednesday afternoon, he joined the BNP at the chairperson's Gulshan office -- welcomed into the party by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Fakhrul announced that Redwan will contest in the February elections from Cumilla-7.
Redwan said, "We have worked together in joint movements, and I agree that BNP should leave certain seats for its allies. However, my party Chairman Oli Ahmad does not support this decision. Most permanent committee members of the LDP and leaders nationwide stand with me."
