Dhaka, Oct. 4 -- The Rastro Songskar Andolan has restructured its central committee and elected Hasnat Kaiyum, who previously served as chief coordinator, as its president.

The organisation has also formally added "Bangladesh" to its name, becoming the Bangladesh Rastro Songskar Andolan.

The decisions were announced during a special delegate conference at SAK Centre in Dhaka on Friday morning, the party said in a media statement issued later in the evening.

The organisation began in 2012 with the "Democratic Constitution Movement" and formally launched as a political party in 2021.

The names of the newly elected general secretary and other executive committee members will be disclosed later, the party added.
