Bangladesh, Aug. 28 -- For the first time in more than three decades, Rajshahi University's Central Students' Union (RUCSU) is heading to the polls. The long-delayed election, now set for Sept 25 after four schedule changes, has become the focal point of intense debate, suspicion, and rival manoeuvring on campus.

The authorities originally fixed Sept 28 for polling, but the date clashed with Maha Sashthi during Durga Puja. The decision drew sharp and swift condemnation from student groups, who accused the administration of insensitivity and even conspiracy.

Under mounting protest, the Election Commission revised the schedule within nine hours.
