Dhaka, May 23 -- Hackers have reportedly infiltrated the server of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), the capital's development authority, and "authorised" several building plans before the agency shut down its permit system and voided the approvals.
The building approval process was suspended for some time after the hack.
The authority shared the development in a media statement on Thursday night.
According to the statement, a group "hacked" into RAJUK's ECPS server on Monday. Within 17 minutes, approval for an unauthorised building was detected.
The 15-storey building with 185 units, situated in a wetland and height-restricted zone, had not received permission.
