Dhaka, Jan. 29 -- Officials from the Ministry of Public Works and the Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha, or RAJUK, are reportedly avoiding office due to fear of arrest.

This follows their involvement in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission, ACC, over alleged irregularities in the allocation of plots to deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her family in Purbachal.

RAJUK Chairman Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarker sent a letter to the national anti-graft body on Jan 16, urging reconsideration of the names of those involved.

In the letter, he argued that the land allocation was carried out in line with RAJUK's regulations and that the officials concerned had merely followed government directives.
