Dhaka, Jan. 6 -- A strong chill has taken hold across Bangladesh as winter hits its peak.

On Tuesday, the season's lowest temperature was recorded in Rajshahi at 7 degrees Celsius, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The Met Office said a cold wave is currently sweeping across 10 districts in the north and north-western regions.

Meteorologist Omar Faruq said the winter cold will persist until Jan 10. "From the 11th of January, the mercury is expected to rise slightly, and the intensity of the cold will decrease," he told bdnews24.com.
