Dhaka, Jan. 12 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has said the 14-year-old schoolgirl found with her throat slit at her home in Banasree was killed after turning down "persistent advances" from a family employee.

The RAB revealed the matter after arresting the key suspect in the murder, 28-year-old Milon Mallik, who was an employee at the restaurant owned by the victim's father.

Milon had been on the run since the murder. He was arrested on Sunday night in Bara Singha under the Bagerhat Sadar Police Station.

RAB held a media briefing at its media centre at the Karwanbazar on Monday afternoon.

As the restaurant employee, Milon had access to the residence, said Lt Col Fayezul Arefin, the commanding officer of RAB-3.
