Dhaka, Oct. 13 -- The Rapid Action Battalion has arrested three members of a gang that allegedly abducts and takes hostages relatives to force troubled expatriate Bangladeshis to bring gold and electronic appliances by dodging duty. The migrant workers abroad also offered free tickets in exchange for the job of bringing other products, such as high-end cosmetics, the RAB said on Friday after making the arrests in an operation on a rented house in Dhaka's Shantinagar on Thursday night.

They are Khorshed Alam, 52, Jewel Rana Majumder, 40, and Masum Ahmed, 35.

Khorshed is the 'mastermind' behind the gang, RAB spokesman Commander Khandaker Al Moin said at a media briefing.
