Dhaka, Oct. 25 -- Locals have protested in Sadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha, demanding the arrest and trial of the suspect of the "rape" of an eight-year-old child.
On Saturday, the protesters held a rally and created a blockade by burning tyres at the Indra intersection of the Gaibandha-Sundarganj road.
Students of schools and colleges, locals, and relatives of the victim participated in the protest rally.
Sadullapur Police chief Tajuddin Khandaker said the blockade was lifted after the police assured them of arresting the suspect.
An angry mob vandalised the house of suspect Anarul Islam, 45, piling wood and bamboo and setting it ablaze outside the property.
