Dhaka, June 17 -- Despite a call for a large protest programme at the Secretariat on Tuesday, only a hundred or so protesters turned up for the demonstration against the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance.
Employees union leaders raised various criticisms against the ordinance from the rally that started near the new Cabinet building a little after 11am.
An open-air protest was also announced at Badamtala with separate processions from all ministries.
Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance was issued on May 25 under the initiative of the Ministry of Public Administration. Since then, protests have been ongoing against this law, with critics calling it regressive.
