Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- The newly formed government has made controlling commodity prices its immediate priority before Ramadan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has said.

Speaking to reporters after the cabinet's first meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, he said maintaining law and order and ensuring an uninterrupted power supply were also key priorities.

"The prime minister has advised us to focus on three issues -- keeping prices stable during Ramadan, maintaining law and order, and ensuring normal electricity supply, especially during Iftar and Taraweeh," Swapan said.
