Dhaka, Feb. 27 -- The BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on party leaders and activists to prepare for the general elections by maintaining unity and discipline.
Speaking at the BNP's extended meeting on Thursday - the first such gathering in seven years - virtually from London, Tarique emphasised the need to strengthen the party's organisational foundation rather than focusing on individual ambitions.
"With the escape of the mafia boss [Sheikh Hasina], a democratic environment has returned to the country," he said.
"The time for national elections may be drawing near. Therefore, it is crucial to gradually prepare the party, not any individual, for the ballot."
