Dhaka, Dec. 1 -- Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar believes it is a "moral and religious duty" to pray for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

He visited Evercare Hospital in Dhaka's Bashundhara on Sunday and enquired about her physical condition.

After leaving, he told journalists they had visited the three-time former prime minister in the hospital on behalf of the party chief.

Porwar highlighted the political and activist ties with Khaleda, saying Jamaat has long joined street movements for democracy alongside her.
