Dhaka, June 7 -- Praying to Allah for the peace and security of people across the world, Khatib Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, said at the Eid congregation: "Please give the people peace. Save them from the persecution of oppressors."

Bangladesh is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha on Saturday. Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus was among those who took part in the main Eid congregation at the National Eidgah grounds adjacent to the High Court in Dhaka.

Malek led the prayers, saying: "Oh Allah, accept our sacrifice. Forgive us all. Forgive us our sins."

Asking for the recovery of the sick, he said: "May the wishes of all be fulfilled. May everyone's troubles be banished."
