Dhaka, June 22 -- Lights have begun to flicker back with electricity gradually being restored after large swathes of Dhaka were left without power for about two hours following a grid failure in Rampura.

The Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB) said it had started to resume power supply at 11:45pm on Sunday.

The associated grids were brought back under power supply after repairing the "unexpectedly occurred fault" at the Rampura 230/132kV Grid Substation, the company responsible for electricity transmission said.

Earlier, a technical glitch at the Rampura grid had disrupted electricity supply to several connected grids at 9:41pm on Sunday.
