Dhaka, May 9 -- A police van carrying former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy has been attacked as it was taking her away. Brickbats were thrown at the vehicle and improvised explosives were detonated.

The incident occurred on Bangabandhu Road in front of the Grindlay's Bank around 6:30am on Friday.

The brickbats injured several people, including police personnel. Sadar Model Police Station chief Nasiruddin Ahmed took one police personnel with critical injuries to the Naranganj 300 Bed Hospital. He said that two police personnel had been injured in the incident.
