Bangladesh, Sept. 3 -- Police have requested a 10-day remand to interrogate actor Siddiqur Rahman in custody over the killing of a furniture store employee during last year's July Uprising.
The petition, submitted on Aug 24, alleges that Siddiqur, identified as the 223rd suspect in the case, was present outside Suvastu Nazar Valley in Shahjadpur during the protests and played a leading role in orchestrating the violence.
According to the police filing, Siddiqur "skilfully provided financial support" that fuelled the incident, which aimed to suppress the student-led uprising.
The petition argues that his remand is essential to:
